Wallet

Import a wallet

Restore an existing HD wallet. The phrase is necessary and not always sufficient — family, path, and index must match the original.

Import derives keys from a phrase you already hold. If the original wallet used a non-default path or a high account index, entering only the phrase on defaults will open a different account. Balances will look missing even though the phrase is correct.

Never type a recovery phrase into a website, email, chat, or support ticket — including support@greywallet.app. Import happens in the app, on the device.

What must match

  • The recovery phrase, in the correct word order.
  • Chain family (Bitcoin, EVM, Solana, Aptos, Sui, XRP, and Tron) for the account you want.
  • Derivation path, if the original wallet was not on the family default.
  • Account index, if the original account was not index 0.

Import order

  1. 01

    Enter the phrase

In GreyWallet, on your device. Not in a browser. Not as a screenshot sent to anyone.

  2. 02

    Select the family

The family the original account used. Bitcoin and EVM are not interchangeable.

  3. 03

    Review the path

If the original wallet showed a custom path, enter that exact path. A default path will not find an account created on a different one.

  4. 04

    Set the index

Use the account number the original wallet expected. Index 0 is not always the account that holds funds.

If balances do not appear

Do not assume the funds are gone. Confirm you are looking at the correct network. Then confirm family, path, and index. A phrase on the wrong path is a different wallet. See Troubleshooting.
