Create a wallet
Generate an HD wallet on the device. Phrase length, chain family, derivation path, and account index are set in one flow.
Create generates a new hierarchical deterministic wallet. The phrase is the root. Accounts and addresses are derived from it. GreyWallet is not a single-address container. One wallet can hold many accounts; each account has addresses on the families you use.
Setup is sequential: phrase length, chain family, derivation path, then account index. Complete it in that order. Switching family after you have customized a path requires saving first.
Phrase length
On create, choose 18, 21, or 24 words. Longer phrases are a preference, not a higher security grade. Entropy and operational risk both matter: a longer phrase is harder to write down correctly. Defaults remain recommended unless you have a specific reason to change length.
Chain family
Bitcoin, EVM, Solana, Aptos, Sui, XRP, and Tron each have a default derivation path. The family you select at create sets which default you review. You can still use the same phrase across families later, but each family is its own key space. An EVM path will not produce your Bitcoin or XRP account.
Derivation path
Keep the family default unless you are matching an existing scheme or deliberately placing this account off the default. A custom path is an address in the HD tree, not a password. If you edit it, record it with the phrase. GreyWallet cannot infer a path you did not save.
Account index
The account index selects which account under that path you are opening first. Index 0 is the first account. You are not limited to 0, 1, and 2. If you set a non-zero index, it is part of the derivation — renaming a label later does not change the keys. See Account index for the full treatment.

Review family and path
Confirm the default, or edit the path if you have a reason.

Set the index
Use 0 unless you intend a specific account number. Record a non-zero index with the phrase and path.

Confirm and store offline
Anyone with the phrase can move funds. Grey Holdings cannot recover it.
