Wallet
HD wallets
Hierarchical deterministic structure: app, HD wallet, account, address. Create many wallets. Hold many accounts in each.
An HD wallet derives a tree of keys from one recovery phrase. You do not store a separate private key for every address. You store the phrase (and, if you changed them, the path and index). GreyWallet makes the tree visible instead of hiding it behind a single default account.
Hierarchy
01
GreyWallet
The app on iOS or Android. Self-custody. Keys on device.
02
HD wallet
A phrase-backed container. Create new ones or import ones you already hold. They sit side by side.
03
Account
A branch under that wallet, selected by derivation path and account index.
04
Address
What you publish to receive. It is derived. It is not a second secret to back up.
Multiple wallets
GreyWallet is not limited to one HD wallet. Everyday Home, Assets, and Activity show wallets that are not isolated in Private Vaults. Wallets in Private Vaults stay out of those views until the pattern is entered.
GreyWallet does not publish a maximum number of wallets or accounts. Use what you need. Do not read that as a claim of “unlimited.”
